Documentaires

Documentaries are at the heart of Peter Wingender’s work.

His films start from observation: being present, following closely, and allowing stories to unfold naturally over time.

Rather than explaining reality, his films reveal it, capturing those rare moments when something true becomes visible.

His work is suited for cinema, television, and international festivals.

Streetart Frankey

Positive Disruptor

A Lego Hazes on Dam Square, a speedboat in a lamppost, Darth Fisher, a vent grille sticking out its tongue: Streetart Frankey surprises the city with work that sparks the imagination. His urban interventions bring smiles to people’s faces, but the drive behind them is more serious than it seems. What begins as light, playful disruptions in the streetscape evolves into a deeper search: how do you stay light-footed when freedom and democracy are increasingly under pressure? From Amsterdam to New York, the film follows an artist who, with flair, humor, and youthful bravado, searches for his place between street and museum, joke and statement.

Ruigoord

A Cosmic Leak

Ruigoord, a small village on the outskirts of Amsterdam, was squatted by artists in the 1970s. Fifty years later, it has become the Netherlands’ oldest cultural free haven; a refuge for artists, dreamers, and free thinkers—an oasis of wonder wedged between port and industry.

As they prepare to celebrate their 50th anniversary, Amsterdam’s energy transition looms over the village like a dark shadow: nearby oil tanks are set to be repurposed for green hydrogen storage, placing Ruigoord in a risk zone. Will the “cosmic leak”—to which residents attribute the village’s magic—offer any relief? Complex questions that all come to a head in the lead-up to the anniversary celebration.

Puck & Hans

Made in Holland

Many fashion enthusiasts hold them in high regard, but to the general public Puck & Hans are not as widely known as design duo Viktor & Rolf. In Made in Holland, documentary filmmaker Peter Wingender follows fashion icons Puck & Hans over the course of a year as they prepare for the opening of their long-awaited major retrospective exhibition.

Alongside a wealth of archival footage, figures such as Karl Lagerfeld, Viktor & Rolf, and Frans Ankoné reflect on the place of Puck & Hans within the fashion world. But the undisputed stars of the film are Puck & Hans themselves. Partners for fifty years, these pioneers and style icons form the radiant center of this vibrant and colorful film.
